Project/Activity brief and purpose:
The purpose of the project is to provide management and delivery services to running a competition of business ideas generated by youth in each of the three states of North Kordofan, South Kordofan and Blue Nile State. The business ideas competition comes as part of the wider Joint Programme (JP) “Creating Opportunities for Youth Employment in Sudan” being implemented by UNDP and eleven UN and UN affiliated organizations (UNIDO, ILO, UNDP, UNICEF, UNESCO, FAO, UNOPS, UNFPA, IOM, UNAIDS, UNV) and their relevant national counterparts. This project is directed at linking youth with employment opportunities including self-employment through the distribution of start-up micro grants via a business idea competition for young entrepreneurs.
Key activities:
The project is divided into 4 major stages which fit into a 6 months long timeframe. Firstly, project inception involves a kick-off meeting with UNDP and undertaking feasibility assessments for the competition to be carried out in each of the three states. Partners and members of the awards selection committees are also to be identified during the start-up stage. A second stage involves launching the competition and a campaign, registering participants and receiving business ideas from the competitors,. Thirdly, the winners are chosen and an award ceremony to recognize the business ideas is held in each state. The last stage involves the delivery of awards (in-kind) values at SDG5700 per business idea to each winner.
